Would like to see Birr win it but I reckon Portumna will have too much for them. Anyone thoughts on the Football? Would love to see Vincents win it, especially with 1/2 Tipp lads. And after the "strike" would love to see any Cork team beat.

Think that Vincent's have every chance in the football. Nemo were not great in any of their matches in Munster, although they did have a very good win over Ballina. Hope that Vincent's do it, for a number of reasons, with the Cork "strike" being the main one.

Canning is definitely a class act. The Birr half back line is good though, with Sid, Rory Hanniffy and Niall Claffey (although I wouldn't be surprised to see Niall Claffey put man to man on Canning) If Birr can keep him quiet, either by marking him out of it, which is hard to do, or by cutting off the supply to him, it's hard to see Portumna getting enough scores. Having said that the pace of Hayes and co will cause problems too. It could be a good game. Not trying to be smart with you or anything AZ but none of the three you mentioned there are actually hurlin in the Birr half back line. Brian Watkins and Dylan Hayden are the wing backs and Paul Cleary is hurling centre back. Claffey is hurling full back, Rory is hurling midfield and Sid is hurling centre forward. Agree withall your other sentiments though.

That's what I get for going by numbers. I knew there was a fair bit of switching going on, but I assumed it was horses for courses. I knew Niall Claffey was in on the square, and Rory was centre field, but I assumed Cleary would be the nominal full back. The last game I saw 'live' Cleary was full back, Rory was centre back, Niall was wing back, and I think Dylan Hayden was the other wing back, with Sid at centre forward. Gary was centre field. Padjoe tends to do mad things, and I would definitely be happier to see Niall Claffey on Canning than Cleary. Claffey might play him from the front. I like Dylan Hayden as a wing back, but I prefer Rory Hanniffy as centre back, although it's no harm to give him a blast of centre field because if Joe Bergin does the job at centre back for the county, Rory would be an ideal lad to have in the centre of the field.

Birr will have enough hurling for anyone. They may not have enough speed to live with the likes of Hayes, but I would back the skills of the Birr lads with anyone.
