Resigning his leadership of the DUP, presumably will go as First Minister as well. And he has been done by those he marched to the top of the hill on so many occasions.
It is ironic that after a lifetime of bigotry, he should cosy up to his lifelong declared enemies in a last desperate bid for power, before being shafted by his once less extreme brethren.
He has a lot to answer for.
Will be interesting to see what happens now politically.

A wonderful statesman who stood up to the violent thugs of Sinn Fein IRA and the only man who managed to get them to start behaving themselves. May he have a great retirement.

Good Riddance? Nah not from me, 'sur who'll we get to pick on now if the leader of the church of I hate you is no more.
I am reminded of the divorce referendum; after Italia 90 it was the best laugh this country ever had.
I'll miss his spitting, bible thumping, protector of the sabbath, racist, segregationsist, gay hating ugly face. What do we get now? Some dour, anal, monotone, hymn signing, lawn bowling tee-totalling moron with the personality of a cloned stip of lino?
No thanks
I enjoyed the divil I knew.

Never forgot the Paisley of old and the bigot that he is but his road to damascus change in personality was instrumental in bringing about power sharing. The fear would be that once he is gone, the others will start playing to their gallery a bit more and the whole thing could come tumbling down.
